Wauchope, Barrow Creek, Aileron
The first sign of life north of Alice Springs, Aireron is a modern roadhouse offering the usual facilities including motel and camping accommodation. Another sixty kilometres further north, the population surrounding the Ti Tree roadhouse consists predominantly of the Pmara Jutunta Aboriginal people and their traditional work is on display and available for sale at the Gallereaterie.
Another 90 kilometres along the Stuart Highway from Ti Tree is the tiny township of Barrow Creek. Nestled at the foot of the Table Top Range, the town consists of the historic Barrow Creek Telegraph Station, The Track's oldest roadhouse, and the true blue outback pub "The Barrow". The sort of establishment where you'd expect to find Crocodile Dundee, this gem of a pub's rough-and-ready atmosphere reeks of history and beer.
Further north, the sparsely populated settlement of Wauchope is best known for it's close proximity to the Devils Marbles. The bizarre pile of enormous spherical boulders scattered about in a random manner is a complete freak of nature and well worth a look. In town there's another lively outback pub, offering a good time as well as motel, backpacker, and camping styles of accommodation.
