Newmarket, Red Hill, Herston, Kelvin Grove, Paddington
North-west of the CBD, inner city suburbs such as Paddington, Kelvin Grove, Herston, Newmarket and Redhill contain some fine examples of domestic Victorian and Edwardian most notably Australian Architecture. Many "Queenslanders", the traditional iron roofed timber homes fill the streets, frequently surrounded by beautiful subtropical gardens. Paddington's Caxton St is a popular gathering point, lined with restaurants, interesting cafes and thumping nightclubs at the eastern end. If rugby union's your game, Herston is home to Ballymore Stadium, Queenslands' international rugby venue.
