Rafting near coffsThe largest centre on the mid north coast, Coffs Harbour is a subtropical playground. Australians and international travellersalike flock to the area every year to enjoy the great climate,water sports, and in particular the gorgeous piece of coastlineon which the town resides.

The range of activities Coffs has to offer is vast. If water sportsflip your pancakes, white water rafting, deep sea fishing, and scuba diving are among the most popular. If staying dry is your prerogative, there area number of different tours at hand including four wheel drive trips through the nearby rainforest and whale watching expeditions.

In town, the North Coast Botanic Gardens is short distance from the city centre. Get there by following the interesting Coffs Creek Walk. There's also an oceanarium with performing dolphins, a historicalmuseum and of course the Big Banana.Accommodation is not a problem and the range available caters for all budgets. There's everything from world-class resorts to caravan parks to four excellent backpacker hostels, which perpetuate Coffs nightlife.

Twenty kilometres south, the quiet townships of Urunga and Mylestomlie on opposite sides of where the Bellinger and Kalang Rivers escape into theocean. The rivers join forces just 200m from the coast, creating awide and impressive estuary ideal for watersports. The beaches northand south of the mouth could only add extra appeal.

Inland from Urunga, Bellingen is a small scenic town set in thelush Bellinger Valley. Once the commercial centre of the region,this naturally beautiful place is now the centre of the areas artistic/alternative population.Picturesque walks, horse riding and canoeing are popular activities as arethe informative tours which operate within the valley. The townitself is inundated with a proportionately high number of craft shops,galleries, and organic cafes. This culminatesevery third Saturday of the month with the Bellingen Markets, a majorregional event with over 250 stalls, entertainment and music.

Back on the coast and south of Urunga, the small resort town of Nambucca Heads will provide solace for those seeking a break from the relentless tourist attractions and activities the districthas on offer. It's fine setting overlooking the mouth of the NambuccaRiver inspires a peaceful atmosphere complimented by beautiful beaches and super friendly locals. Accommodation available is plentiful, but like most holiday destinations on the mid north coast, it's advisedto book ahead for the summer holidays.
