Agnes Water, Town of 1770, Calliope, Gladstone
The waters of 1770The townships of Agnes Water and 1770 are nestled between wilderness and breathtaking coastline creating what is probably the most beautiful and peaceful place in south-east Queensland. It's less commercial in comparison with other seaside destinations within the state, with one pub, a few shops, and a limited amount of accommodation. A section of the road to the towns is still unsealed! But people still come here for the great boating and fishing, to explore the nearby Eurimbula National Park, or simply to soak in the serenity the region has to offer.

Further north and back on the main highway Calliope marks the turn to Gladstone. Gladstone's estuary setting has become one busiest ports in Australia due to it's deep harbours and coal mining operations in the hinterland. There are various historic buildings, art and craft galleries, and tours are available of the several industries in the area. The town's marina is the main departure point for Heron and Curtis Islands.
