Hi all,
Just a short note - like many others, I have been shocked and distressed by the stories and images as a result of the extensive flooding and devastation that has taken place throughout Queensland over the last few weeks. From the widespread flooding of Rockhampton and Far North Queensland, to the dramatic images from Toowoomba, the Lockyer Valley and of course the extensive coverage of the flooding in Brisbane, there are many who want to help by donating their time and money to the recovery efforts.
With floods affecting a large part of Queensland, as well as Northern New South Wales and now many parts of Victoria, the damage bill is estimated to be measured in the $billions, and recovery in some cases is estimated to take months, if not years. If you are able to assist by donating you time or by financial means it would go a long way towards assisting in these recovery efforts. Some of the vision I have seen of people volunteering their time to assist complete strangers throughout this crisis has brought tears to my eyes. Aussies in times of distress and destruction are indeed a wonderful people!
Many homes and businesses have been extensively damaged or completely destroyed, and many lives have suffered dramatic and traumatic consequences as a result of the devastation. If you are able to help, I have included some links below to some of the organisations where you are able to donate your time and / or money to assist people or businesses to get back on their feet.
